Prenatal care is offered on the same schedule as any standard obstetric practice: every 4 weeks until 28 weeks, every 2 weeks until 36 weeks, and every week until delivery. Visits are usually scheduled for half an hour, with the first visit usually lasting longer, around an hour.
During your prenatal routine labs and will be offered and collected in house, including:
- Blood work and cultures at the initial visit
- 28 week CBC and glucose screen
- 36 week CBC and Group B Strep screen
- Additional labs may be added on, as necessary
You will be referred out for one diagnostic ultrasound, a fetal survey, between 18-22 weeks gestation. Depending on the need, a first trimester ultrasound for dating purposes and/or pregnancy confirmation will also be obtained. Any ultrasounds after the fetal survey, will be done only if need arises.
