The Midwifery Model of Care™  is different than that of contemporary obstetrics in that approach is based on nurturing, personalized, and hands-on care throughout the pregnancy, birth, and postpartum processes. The goal is to develop a relationship based on mutual trust and understanding as well as respect for the autonomy of the mother.  We provide evidence-based, up to date care and believe in the complete informed consent of the mother when it comes to decisions affecting her pregnancy, birth, and newborn. Practice of this model has been shown to reduce incidence of trauma, injury, and cesarean section.

According to Midwives Alliance of North America (MANA), the Midwifery Model of Care ™ includes:

  • Monitoring the physical, psychological and social well-being of the mother throughout the childbearing cycle
  • Providing the mother with individualized education, counseling, and prenatal care, continuous hands-on assistance during labor and delivery, and postpartum support
  • Minimizing technological interventions
  • Identifying and referring women who require obstetrical attention.
